Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice

Most people in South Yorkshire have heard of Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in North Anston, but you probably didn’t know it has over 350 active volunteers. Chief Executive Claire Rintoul told me they are vital to the running of the hospice, as they have around three times more volunteers than staff. I went along to sample a lunchtime service in the kitchen. There are only two paid members of staff responsible for the food, and volunteers do everything from setting tables to washing the pots.
