Tipperary Military Barracks was designated a Military Hospital and Command Depot in 1916 for injured and recuperating soldiers. It had a capacity for 4,000 patients, by utilising the hutments as well as the barracks buildings. The soldiers would rest here until they were deemed fit enough to return to active service. This story contains archive material from Horace George Ham who was injured and sent to Tipperary in 1917 to recuperate. Local historian Denis Marnane tells the story of the Command Depot.
