Wambach bows out

Sportsworld

Available for over a year

After winning a World Cup and two Olympic gold medals with the US Women's football team, Abby Wambach talks to Sarah Mulkerrins about finishing her 14 year career. The 35-year-old believes she's been "lucky" to be able to play for so long, having made more than 250 appearances for the USA but she revealed she'd been "grinding it out for the last year and a half" with the goal of winning the World Cup saying "if we won the 2011 World Cup and the 2012 Olympics, I probably wouldn't have continued playing".
