India's Dalits find allies in Black Lives Matter

Boston Calling

Available for over a year

Dalits were once called Untouchables and occupy the lowest rung on the traditional caste system; discrimination against the group remains deep-rooted in India. But the topic remains a difficult one for Dalits to bring up, let alone change. A new campaign is taking on caste violence, though, and they’ve been reaching out to activist movements like Black Lives Matter in the US.
