Republicans in the US Congress have reached a compromise budget deal with the White House to avert the prospect of a renewed government shutdown. If passed by both Houses of Congress, the deal will enable the government to raise spending by eighty billion dollars. Every year for the last 23 years, the UN General Assembly has voted to condemn America's trade embargo on Cuba. This year - despite relations thawing between the one-time Cold War enemies - that resolution has gathered more support than ever before. So what's the view from Havana of all this? We hear from the BBC's Will Grant there. In just over a month's time at least eighty world leaders - including US President Barack Obama, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will head to Paris to try and cut a global deal on climate change. In recent months the momentum has built towards such a deal - with announcements from the biggest carbon emitters on how they plan to cut those emissions to try and keep global warming under two degrees celsius. But how is business adapting to the changes to come - we hear from Helena Morissey CEO of Newton Investment Management. A new poll has found widespread support among Americans for the government’s role in providing the social safety net – things like unemployment insurance, job training and college tuition assistance.
