Independence referendum may be 'unstoppable' if UK leaves EU

Today

Available for over a year

SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon has said that a second independence referendum may be unstoppable if the UK votes to leave the EU but Scotland votes to stay in. Questioned by the Today programme's James Naughtie, she said that "people will think we have to look again… to protect our membership of the EU". "I'm not saying it's automatic," she said. "But it's highly likely."
