70 Stories: Robert Bench

Coventry Blitz

Available for over a year

Robert Bench lived in Stoke Heath and was 11-years-old when the war started. He was evacuated to Grendon before the Coventry Blitz but remembers his family having to shelter. They left one shelter for another and it was then that a bomb hit their original shelter. Robert recalls the "terrible" light in the sky and saw the bombers going over, heading for Coventry.
