The use of orchestral string instruments is explored. One of the most famous use of string instruments in an orchestra is the violins featured in the Spring movement of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Italy was the centre of violin making both now and when Vivaldi was composing. The programme also features William Walton's Viola Concerto.
