Yu Wensheng: “In China, ‘rule of law’ is just a slogan”

The Real Story

Available for over a year

Yu Wensheng, a human rights lawyer, has been accused by the Chinese authorities of "picking quarrels and provoking trouble". In 2014 he was detained for three months and eventually released without charge, but then at the beginning of August he was imprisoned again. This time he was freed 24 hours later. He spoke to Newshour Extra over an encrypted messaging app, and gave his account of what happened to him. (Picture: Yu Wensheng. Credit: AP Photo)
