Essex RSPB explains why UK's Turtle Dove population has declined

Drivetime on BBC Essex

Available for over a year

The RSPB has discovered why the Turtle Dove is the UK's fastest declining bird. Two-thirds of the UK population can be found in the East of England, with 12% of the breeding birds in Essex. Turtle Dove numbers have dropped by 96% since 1970. Samantha Lee, a Turtle Dove Conservation Advisor for the RSPB in Essex, tells BBC Essex presenter, Mark Matthews, why numbers have been steadily falling.
