Time for More Drama?

Over to You

Available for over a year

For 75 years drama has had a regular slot on the BBC World Service and at its height there was a programme a week on the network. However, in 2010, financial cutbacks meant the spotlight on drama was dimmed. Now, recent plays on the network have been gaining listeners' praise and attention. So is it time for drama to be a bigger priority on the BBC World Service? We put the question to senior commissioning editor Steve Titherington and director Nicolas Jackson who directed the recent drama The Great Charter, which commemorated 800 years since the Magna Carta document was signed. US Listener Matt Black also asks whether drama can have a greater role in accompanying the news output.
