The couple, who have been together ten years, say the vote is a "huge deal" for Ireland as it "gives a sense of who we are now as a society, not who we used to be". More than 62% voted in favour of amending the country's constitution to allow gay and lesbian couples to marry, making it the first country in the world to legalise same-sex marriage through a popular vote.
