Villagers in Hedenham knew VE Day was inevitable so when it came they had a big celebration. There was no village hall so they used a school. There was a flurry to organise everything quickly. It was a small village so everybody knew everybody else. They all flocked out, bringing food. Margaret Cobb thinks her mum took some bacon and they played games. Her brother had a mouth organ and he played it at the party. They danced, ate and drank to their heart’s content from morning until night.
