Mark Gatenby’s Story

Mark Gatenby from Middlesbrough got in touch with BBC Tees with some cinefilm of VE Day 1945, filmed by his father. The footage has never been broadcast before, and shows dozens of residents gathered on a green posing for the camera. He says: "My elder sisters and brother are in the group, and it's great I've managed to retrieve it. It's never been seen outside of the family.” Image and film footage courtesy of Mark Gatenby
