Jeff Tokely’s Story

Jeff Tokely lives in Peterborough but was born in Harrow. He went with his family to the Pall Mall celebrations. He saw the Royal family and Winston Churchill on the Buckingham Palace terrace. Jeff remembers how crowded the Mall was, it was overwhelming that so many people were there. A year later at school he has a copy of the King’s note to children dated 6 June 1946, noting that 9 May was VE Day from the war notes on the other side. Image: Jeff’s note from King George
