Bjorn Sandison | Extended Interview

Shereen

Available for over a year

Born in the village of Walls on the west coast of the Shetland Mainland, Bjorn Sandison grew up surrounded by people talking his own dialect – but there was a dearth of reading material written in the voices he was used to hearing. Now an air ambulance pilot, Bjorn used his night shifts to write an adventure story in Shetland dialect. Thanks to a lottery grant, his book is about to be distributed to every primary school pupil on the archipelago. He tells Shereen why he wanted to write an adventure story in his own dialect.
