Patrolling with the Libyan coastguard

Newshour

Available for over a year

Hundreds of migrants leaving North Africa, and trying to reach southern Europe for a better life, have drowned in the Mediterranean. The Italian coast guard says that 1511 migrants were rescued in the Mediterranean yesterday - bringing the figure to 10,000 people rescued in the last few days. Our Middle East Correspondent Quentin Sommerville is in Misrata, in Libya, where he's been out with the coastguard - patrolling the waters and picking up migrants heading for Europe.
