Two fishermen who went to sea in a homemade boat they built for £9 had to be rescued when their oars broke. One of the fisherman told the BBC his rescuers "weren't exactly impressed at the fact that we had no safety gear, nothing to steer the boat with". The pair, in their 20s, became stranded in the 2.5m (8ft) vessel about 200m (665ft) off the Essex coast at 14:30 BST on Monday.
