The Loneliest Elephant In The World?

Newsday

Available for over a year

The tiny South Pacific nation of Niue normally gets its supplies once a week on a cargo flight but on one special delivery day locals were left astounded after the arrival of an Asian elephant called Anjalee. She'd been flown in from Sri Lanka by Auckland Zoo with one headline describing her as "the world's loneliest elephant". Andrew Coers leads the team of people looking after Anjalee and spoke to us from Niue. (Photo: An elephant standing on its own. Credit: Paula Bronstein/Getty Images)
