Should taxi firms give priority to lone women?

Morning Call

Available for over a year

The SNP’s Colin Keir who represents Edinburgh Western has written to all licensed taxis and pre-booked private hires to adopt a single woman priority policy. Some Edinburgh cab firms have a policy that they will prioritise the collection for a woman who is on her own. Mr Keir said: “I’ve had encouraging conversations with some of the taxis firms in Edinburgh and hope that all of them in the capital and across Scotland sign up to the cabwise plan. At this time of the year there is always an increase in the number of people using taxis at the end of an evening out – and its important that everyone gets home safely.” Kaye asks: Should taxi firms give priority to lone women?
