Italy's Migrants, and a ‘Mad’ Danish Food Conference
From Our Own CorrespondentAvailable for over a year
Italy is no stranger to economic and political turmoil, but its position on the southern end of Europe means it draws in migrants fleeing places that are much worse off in Africa and the Middle East. This year the steady flow has become a huge torrent as thousands risk a dangerous trip across the Mediterranean. Emma Jane Kirby has been watching the arrivals. Also in the programme, what is cooking? We are not talking about dinner tonight, but rather the main topic under discussion at an innovative food conference in the Danish capital, Copenhagen. Nikita Gulhane reports. (Photo: Immigrants wait after they disembark from an Italian military ship in August in the port of Reggio Calabria, southern Italy, following rescue operations at sea.
