This weekend saw an accident at the Japanese Grand Prix that left driver Jules Bianchi with severe head injuries. Many are now asking asking questions about the atrocious weather conditions and the role of a recovery vehicle involved in the crash. Questions are also being raised about why Chelsea’s goalkeeper was allowed to play on for 13 minutes yesterday after a serious on-pitch collision. So are big-money sports like motor-racing, soccer and boxing doing enough to protect sportsmen and women from the risks they face? Or are the massive profits driven by big TV rights clouding the judgement of those running such sports?
