Many long suffering rail commuters in Kent were left open mouthed by an admission from Rail Minister Claire Perry this week that she was awarding a further four year franchise to Southeastern despite passengers on the network “not always receiving the service they deserve”. Breakfast presenters Maggie Doyle and Ian Collins challenged the minister on why there hadn’t been a proper tendering process, and Southeastern’s outgoing Managing Director Charles Horton on its record.
