Falcons Primary School

Jim Davis and Jo Hayward

Available for over a year

The head teacher of a troubled free-school in Leicester says he's devastated it won't now open. Falcons Primary - a free school with a Sikh ethos - was due to open its doors to up to 30 pupils Wednesday 3rd September But the Government stepped in over the weekend withdrawing crucial funding, highlighting a breakdown in the management structure and insisting the school be taken over by its preferred choice of education trust. Consequently, Falcon School's gates will remain locked....for now. Speaking exclusively to BBC Radio Leicester's Jo Hornby, head teacher Steve Snelson says it's come as a huge blow - especially as more than a million pounds has already been set on converting former hospital buildings into a brand new school.
