The number of organ transplants has increased by 10% since last year according to NHS figures, but the number of black people on the organ donor register is still below the national average. In fact 66% of Black communities living in the UK refuse to give permission for their loved ones organs to be donated. Mandy from St Albans has been waiting 27 years for a kidney transplant and in this extract speaks to Nesta McGregor.
