Sheltered housing scheme for elderly to be demolished

The Breakfast Show with Penny Smith and Paul Ross

Available for over a year

The minimalist accommodation built in the 1970's in Streatham consists of four blocks linked by covered walkways and surrounded by gardens. Residents say they're a real community living in a safe, secure peaceful environment and they don't want to move. But Lambeth Council says they need to reshape older people's housing in the borough and residents will be offered more modern and accessible accommodation. Residents Linda and Valentine and Jim Dixon from Lambeth Council spoke to Penny and Paul.
