Leicester's Diwali Celebrations

Jim Davis and Jo Hayward

Available for over a year

Leicester's Diwali celebrations are already world famous and in fact the biggest outside of India but there are plans afoot to see if its possible to expand them and make them even more spectacular. The Arts Council of England have awarded Leicester City Council a grant of six thousand pounds to look into how the Festival of Lights in Leicester could be made bigger and better in the years to come. Assistant Mayor, Councillor Manjoola Sood told Jim Davis yesterday about how this money would be spent and what hopes she has for the festival. She also revealed that she is convinced the money was awarded to Leicester as a direct result of Sir Peter Bazalgette's visit to the city during our recent bid to become City of Culture 2017.
