In 1964, Leonard Bernstein was commissioned by the Cathedrals of Chichester and Salisbury to compose a setting from the book of Psalms. The result was his Chichester Psalms, the work in which Bernstein rediscovered tonality after a brief foray into serialism. Charles Hazlewood and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales explore this serene masterpiece together with the Chamber Choir of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and counter-tenor, William Towers.
