5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

The government is bringing in the biggest change to special needs provision in England for thirty years. Out will go statements of special educational needs and in will come new Education, Health and Care plans. 5 live's Lesley Ashmall has been to Bromstone Primary in Broadstairs in Kent, an inclusive school with pupils of all abilities mixing in the same class. Children with varying degrees of special educational needs are given constant support, but when they need extra one-on-one time, they go to the Platinum room. The inclusion co-ordinator Mandy Hadden has been showing Lesley around.
