SOS in sandbank saved Australian snorkelers

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

Five people who were snorkelling off the Queensland coast in Australia had to be saved after their boat drifted away from them. They managed to draw the letters SOS into a nearby sandbank and were waiting on rocks for safety. Tony Miller was part of the rescue team, he told 5 live Breakfast he'd never come across anything like it before. The Central Queensland rescuer explained "they were pretty happy that someone actually came to pick them up, it would have been cold and pretty uncomfortable had we missed them by nightfall". Broadcast on 5 live Breakfast, 24th April 2014.
