Do teenagers need lessons in how to speak properly?

Morning Call

Available for over a year

Do teenagers need lessons in how to speak properly? Tony Blair’s former speechwriter, Peter Hyman, thinks they do. He believes schools should teach children how to be articulate to put an end to the image of the “grunting, monosyllabic teenager” (as personified by Harry Enfield's Kevin the teenager character). Hyman says it’s the “number one issue for employers” as there are concerns that young people “can’t string a sentence together.”
