Following Lenny Henry's call for action to tackle the lack of black and Asian people on TV, Jamelia has been talking about being one of few dark-skinned women on daytime television. The singer-turned-TV-personality says that as a teenager she was told she was too dark to make it. In this extract, the Birmingham-born star - of Jamaican and Zimbabwean descent - tells the BBC's Reya El-Salahi that she hopes her success will help bring about change.
