First Gay First Lady

Outlook

Available for over a year

Icelandic playwright and author Jónína Leósdóttir is the first openly gay First Lady. She is married to the former Prime Minister of Iceland Johanna Siguroardottir. The artist Tameka Norris is from Biloxi - one of the US cities hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina. For the last nine years, she has been creating works inspired by Katrina and the impact it had on the Mississippi Gulf Coast where she grew up. American construction boss Barry Martin befriended an elderly woman who refused to make way for his building in Seattle. Bahamian Olympic medallist Chris Brown will be heading to Glasgow this summer to take part in the Commonwealth Games. He chooses the music that inspires him - the exotic rhythms of junkanoo.
