Russia, Sochi and Olympics Public Relations

Business Daily

Available for over a year

The Sochi winter Olympic games have been described as the most expensive ever. But if we judge the games on their public relations value, are they worth it for Russia? We speak to a former Kremlin adviser, Alexander Nekrassov, who argues Russia is being unfairly singled out by an unsympathetic world media. He argues his case against Kier Giles, security expert at the Conflict Research Centre in Oxford. Plus, Robin Cousins, the 1980 British Olympic gold medallist figure skater, tells us how he built a professional life on the back of his sport, while Michael Edwards, otherwise known as Eddie The Eagle, is proof of that you don't always need to win to succeed. He built a career out of coming last in Olympic ski jumping.
