Bill de Blasio has been elected as mayor of New York. Awaiting him is an international profile and a budget of 70 billion dollars. One voter says of the New Mayor: "When I look at Mr de Blasio, I see a bright light at the end of the tunnel," De Blasio won this election in a landslide victory and his voters know that his role is not merely symbolic, he CAN make a difference. Another elected mayor making the headlines is Toronto's mayor Rob Ford whose approval ratings have jumped up despite him admitting to taking crack cocaine in a "drunken stupor". He has refused to quit his position and says he intends to re run for election in 2014. Photo: Associated Press
