A month-long state of emergency has been declared in Egypt after a day of violence. A night-time curfew has also been imposed across a large swathe of the country. Banks and the stock exchange have been ordered to close. Shops, factories and other businesses are closing too. We get the latest from Cairo. There is now a glimmer of hope in Europe - the indebted eurozone has finally emerged from the longest recession in its history.
