Innovation in Zambia & transportation in South Africa

From Our Own Correspondent

Available for over a year

Peter Day meets philanthropist Simon Berry, who has come up with an ingenious idea to deliver diarrhoea treatments to remote villages attached to soft drink crates. Diarrhoea kills more children than HIV/Aids, malaria and measles combined. Peter Day describes the value chain of the treatment, which allows small profit margins for the manufacturer, the distributors and the shopkeepers, through piggybacking on the ubiquitous supply of commercial soft drinks. And, Lindsay Johns takes a taxi ride from the coloured township of Grassy Park into the city-centre of Cape Town and reflects on the crime and racial segregation that still prevail in South Africa.
