The media and entertainment giant News Corp splits in two. The group's successful cinema and television operations will be rechristened 21st Century Fox and separated from the battle-scarred newspaper business - which will retain the name News Corporation. We look at the logic of the move and ask whether it was prompted by the telephone hacking scandal which forced the closure of one of News Corp's leading titles, The News of the World. We also look at allegations of corruption affecting the Vatican Bank, following the arrest of a senior Italian prelate and ask whether there is something rotten in the Holy See.
