It’s more than two years since Egypt ousted President Mubarak in one of the defining moments of the Arab Spring. One of the freedoms now enjoyed by Egyptians is the right to protest in public, with dozens of demonstrations taking place every week across the country. Aleem Maqbool sets out to see if he can find a demo every day for a week in the country’s capital, Cairo – and asks what they reveal about post-revolution Egypt. And, in many parts of the world, belief in spirits or ghosts is widespread. In the forests of the Indian Himalayas some spirits are regarded as kind, while others are thought to be downright evil. Modern anxieties may make people more likely to report being possessed. It’s a serious problem, as Jane Dyson and her young family have discovered.
