Apple's 'Missing' Tax Billions

Business Daily

Available for over a year

A US Senate committee claims Apple owes America nine billion dollars. It is not the first tech giant to stand accused of tax avoidance and just like Google and Amazon before it, Apple says it hasn't broken any laws. That may be so, but is funnelling tens of billlions through subsidiaries in Ireland really the behaviour of an ethical business? On Business Daily today we'll be asking how nation states can hold multinationals to account. In California we hear what the rest of the tech community makes of the claims being made. Is Apple just doing what companies are supposed to do - trying its best to maximise profits? Plus, how regulation can get results. As two German clubs go head to head for European football's top title we discover why treating football like a business doesn't work. (Image: Tim Cook, CEO, Apple. Credit: Associated Press)
