Intense fighting in northern Nigeria & Many killed in Syrian army attack

Intense fighting between the military and Islamist fighters from Boko Haram in Baga, northern Nigeria, is reported to have killed at least 185 civilians and destroyed 2000 homes. We hear from Nigeria. Also we hear from Syria where government troops have seized the town of Jdaidet al-Fadl near Damascus, allegedly killing at least 80 people - including women and children according to opposition activists.
