Cutting crime with Church Watch

There's been a change in the law today to try to curb the amount metal thefts taking place. Amongst other measures, you can no longer turn up at a scrap yard with a load of metal and expect a cash payment. The aim is to make it much more difficult for thieves to sell on the metal they've stolen. It's not the only measure that's been in place though. Up until twelve months ago, over a two year period, Rutland saw eight attacks on churches where they're roofs we're stripped for the lead. The total cost of that ran into hundreds of thousands of pounds. In the last year however there hasn't been one. And that's being put down to a Police initiative called Church Watch. The man behind it is PC Paul Le Pla and BBC Radio Leicester's Ben Jackson went to meet him in Rutland.
