Egypt, Gaza and Jamaica

From Our Own Correspondent

Available for over a year

Pascale Harter introduces items from around the world. For many years Israel has imposed severe restrictions on goods going into the Gaza Strip. It wants to stop weapons getting into the hands of Hamas militants. But it has also blocked many basic goods like building materials. However, items and weapons have still been getting in, through a series of tunnels linking the territory with Egypt. After the eight days of fighting last month, Gaza has settled into a tense truce with Israel. So are those tunnels still being used to bring goods and weapons into the Gaza Strip? Paul Martin has been to investigate. Kingston, Jamaica has done a lot in recent years to change its reputation as a murder capital. However, the killing of a young woman has brought back disturbing memories for Nick Davis.
