The power of incentives

Business Daily

Available for over a year

It is extraordinary what you can achieve if the incentives are right. People will - for example - do a surprising amount just for a free cup of tea. Take bribery - it is usually assumed that once a culture of bribery has taken root it is almost impossible to erradicate. Not so, says our regular commentator Stever Fritzinger. It is - he says - all a question of incentives. Justin Rowlatt is taken on of Google's London HQ where free food, drinks and table tennis are used to help motivate staff and is given a unique insight into the role of dowling rods in the internet giant's global strategy. Plus we speak to a reinsurance giant which is predicting more storms for America. (Image: Foreign currency notes. Credit: TORSTEN BLACKWOOD/AFP/Getty Images)
