North Korea and Malaysia

From Our Own Correspondent

Available for over a year

Stories from Tomiko Newson in North Korea and Jennifer Pak in Malaysia and Singapore, presented by Pascale Harter. Few people are granted access to enter North Korea. But Tomiko Newson took a trip there, visiting a maternity ward of triplets. Taken from their mothers at birth, they are raised by the state- to ease the pressure on the parents according to the authorities. Jennifer Pak explores the different languages spoken in Malaysia and Singapore. The importance of Mandarin and English as official languages in Singapore has led to an increase in Singlish- mostly English words with Chinese grammar.
