Owen Bennett Jones presents dispatches from Mexico, from Will Grant and Alistair Leithead. Mexico City’s rubbish ‘volunteers’ Cities create rubbish and someone has to clean it up. It may not be the job they would have wanted but for many it’s a chance to make enough money to provide for their families. But in some cities there is not even a wage on offer - just the opportunity to gather and sell other people's scraps. Will Grant has been following one of Mexico City’s 'volunteer' binmen. Fiesta in the country In southern Mexico people live very different lives than those in the big cities. They may have just as little money, but theirs is a more rural and traditional way of life. Alastair Leithead has been celebrating the festival of Saint Sebastian with modern-day Mayans.
