Owen Bennett Jones presents stories from Allan Little in the Falklands and Fergal Keane in Argentina. DISPUTED ISLANDS Before 1982 scarcely anyone in Britain had heard of a territory called the Falkland Islands or - as the Argentinians call them, Las Malvinas. But then a territorial dispute flared up and led to a war which cost more than 900 lives. Recently the islands have been back in the news for a very particular reason - the heir to the British throne, Prince William, has been flying a helicopter there. In this programme we have two reports, one from Allan Little who has just returned from the Falklands. Life is often difficult - there is a shortage of eggs and fresh vegetables - but many islanders feel rooted to their homes. The second dispatch comes from Fergal Keane, who reflects on the Argentinian view of their claims to the islands.
