As a child from a poor Jewish family, he was sent to an orphanage at the age of five. Later, he fought fascists on the streets of London and defended Israel in 1948. He went on to become an icon of swinging sixties London. His innovative styles were the foundation for an international business which trains thousands of stylists and sells millions of dollars worth of products that bear his name. Vidal Sassoon is now 83 and lives mostly in Los Angeles.
