This year Russia is marking the 20th anniversary of the collapse of the USSR. The last two decades have been a real roller coaster for the Russian people - in the 1990s they experienced freedom but also chaos as communism was replaced by chaotic capitalism. They have seen civil war in the Caucasus, and, in recent years, the return to more authoritarian rule under Vladimir Putin and his protege Dmitry Medvedev. But what next for Russia? Moscow correspondent Steve Rosenberg took a walk down his favourite street to find out how Russians view the past and to hear their hopes for the future.
