Health Check

Available for over a year

Discrimination, stigma and shame all contribute to the reluctance of people in Hong Kong to come forward for help when they’re mentally ill. But as Claudia Hammond reports in the second of two special programmes from Hong Kong, another reason is the lack of available care and treatment. As the first ever survey of mental illness is carried out, policy makers are hoping that the results revealing the scale of unmet need, will lead to a radical overhaul of mental health services, enabling more people to get the help they need
